NEOGEN is an innovative technology that offers a dramatically different, clinically proven and safe way to rejuvenate aging skin. (Ref: 1-5). NEOGEN is a non-ablative Plasma Energy device that can be used for the treatment of wrinkles, acne, pores, dull/dry skin, benign skin lesions, and actinic keratoses. NEOGEN can be used on any part of the body to promote skin rejuvenation. NEOGEN treatments are customized for each patient and can be designed to deliver a quick low energy facial over a lunch hour with minimal downtime all the way up to a full face lift which usually results in 7-10 days of social downtime. Our new “Wet Technique” minimizes downtime without compromising collagen and elastin stimulation. NEOGEN is approved by Health Canada and the FDA.
Different from most traditional resurfacing tools (lasers, micro needling, Radiofrequency and Ultrasound), NEOGEN uses Nitrogen Plasma energy to target the entire skin structure. Plasma energy penetrates deep below the surface of the skin and works with the skin’s natural ability to repair itself by stimulating new collagen production (REF: 1-5). The result is true skin rejuvenation from within, as well as brightening and evening out the skin’s surface appearance (Ref: 1-5). NEOGEN treatments improve both the health and aesthetic of your skin! Amazingly, ongoing research into the effects of plasma energy on the skin demonstrate not only an ability to treat skin cancer, but also prevent it’s recurrence (Ref: 6)!
During a consultation, we develop a customized treatment protocol based on your your skin type, desired results and treatment timeframe. Lower energy levels will improve skin texture, tone (firmness) and mild acne. Higher energy treatments will additionally provide significant improvement to wrinkles, scarring and pigmentation (Ref: 1-5).
Depending on the type of NEOGEN treatment you are getting, your results may not show up immediately. Treatment day is just the beginning of the skin’s transformation. Depending on the energy used and the type of treatment rendered, superficial skin changes can be apparent right after your procedure. More substantial structural changes take time to develop, as these rely on new collagen and elastin synthesis (REF 1-5). Structural results will start to show up gradually in the first 3 months after treatment and continued improvement is seen for up to 2 years (REF: 1-5). Depending on desired outcome and the amount of energy used, a variable number of treatment sessions may be required to achieve your desired outcome.
While very rare, the risks of the procedure include hyper- or hypopigmentation (less or more colour than the surrounding skin), and even more rarely, scarring or infection.
Patients that are prone to cold sores should be pretreated with an antiviral medication like Valacyclovir to avoid activating a cold sore. Please inform Dr. D’Costa if this is a concern.
NEOGEN can also be used to treat certain medical conditions such as warts and fungal lesions (fungal nail infections, athletes foot).
